A description of some of the charities and their work is outlined below:
Simon's Soup Kitchen - The Knights of Columbus serve our communities by coming to the aid of those most in need. Knights of Columbus Council Council 8415 in Seaside Park NJ runs Simon's Kitchen which feeds the needy in Ocean County during the winter months. This winter, Simon's kitchen served over 13,000 meals. It's breakfast for children program has been supported in 2008-2009 by American Idol Gives Back.
The New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association, Inc., is a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization whose purpose is to support patients, disseminate reliable information, and promote research. It sponsors a wide range of activities, including: support groups, newsletter, phone list, statewide conferences, hotline, and interfacing with the CFS community. NJCFSA is affiliated with the CFIDS Association of America and the American Association for CFS. Click here for their website. another source of information on focused on understanding the symptoms and treatments of joint pain and fibromyalgia is www.fibromyalgiasyndrome.co.uk/home.htm.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society - The funds we provide together help underwrite important research toward finding a cure for multiple sclerosis. Much progress has been made due to funding from groups like the Weeda Beahm Team who ride every year in the Annual MS bicycle challange. Dick Beahm is a classmate of mine from the United States Military Academy. He puts a lot of effort into raising money each year and can really use our support. Maybe if we can put some money behind him, he'll even ride a little faster.
Family & Friends For Freedom Fund, Inc. - Welcome Home SSgt James Sturla! We love you Jim! On September 22, 2004 a Marine in our family was severely injured in Iraq. During the 6 1/2 weeks he was at the Bethesda Naval Center we experienced how a family feels and the struggles they undergo when a loved one is injured. The war in Iraq was brought up close and personal. Our marine's arduous journey since has inspired our family and some friends to found a non profit organization called Family & Friends For Freedom Fund, Inc. We felt that we had to help not only “our Marine” but all of the other Marine families that find themselves in this tough situation as well as the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. This is how Family & Friends For Freedom Fund Inc., a nonprofit organization, was founded. Click here for their site.
Several Sources Shelters - Several Sources Founder, Kathy DiFiore, has "saved" many babies who have lived at the Several Sources Shelters. Find out more about Several Sources Shelters by going to their website.
